Why do chameleons change color?

As educators, we realize that our students may have a variety of misconceptions which interfere with their learning.  It is important that we consider these misconceptions when developing our lessons.  Keeping this awareness in mind, we set out to research a common misconception regarding chameleons.  More specifically, the rationale behind why chameleons change color.

On this site, one will find background information on our misconception, our interview protocol, our video research, the synthesis of our findings, and, of course, our references.
